Here's a bit about Jon

DJ and producer Jon Gurd is rapidly rising in the Dj’ing ranks. Creating his own unique sound, comprising of twisted techno beats, driving house undertones, and dark electronic sounds, his music and sets alike have gained huge respect from his peers, promoters and most importantly clubbers throughout the world.

Over the last year his own record label has rocketed through the roof; this year “Killawatt Records” has gained unprecedented support from Nic Fanciulli, James Zabiela, Lee Burridge, Fergie, Hernan Cattaneo, Meat Katie, Mark Knight, James Talk, Funkagenda, Tom Neville, Slam & Deepgroove to name a few, while the dance jocks on Radio 1 have featured no less than 7 of his own tracks in the last year, topping it off with a guest mix and interview on Dave Spoon’s show.

Out on the circuit, Jons demand has quickly grown. On home turf his stints at UK clubs such as Sankeys, The Gallery at Ministry, Mynt in Belfast and Glasshouse at Mission have increased his fans tenfold, while across the other side of the world in South America Jon has already struck it big, his rise in profile has been no less than meteoric playing to 15,000 people in Sao Paulo, Rio, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Goiania and Campinas, and continuing in this vein his fourth 12 DATE tour of Brazil is now lined up for the end of the year. Jon is acutely aware of how to keep that dancefloor moving to his beats, he’ll never fail to mix it up and keep it moving, taking the crowd on a spontaneous journey into the darkest realms of driving house and techno.

As a producer, Jons music has been creating tremors on some of the world’s greatest dancefloors. His first track ‘Future’ released in August 2005 received Radio One airplay from Fergie, whilst the massive ‘Lemon Sherbert’ found its way onto Sander Kleinenberg's ‘Everybody Part 3’ mix and again his track ‘Mind Control’ onto Paul Woolford’s October 2005 Essential Mix.

Remix wise, Jon is generating musical airwaves across the industry. His remix of Random House Project’s ‘Freakin Me’ for Cr2 reached number 1 on the DJ download chart, and number 4 in the Beatport chart, whilst his remix of James Talk’s ‘Warm Milk’ written with Dave Robertson help the top spot in the Beatport tech house chart for 2 weeks.

As if that wasn’t enough Jon also runs ‘Bass for Breakfast’ and the new ‘Killawatt’ record label. The first release to come from his Killawatt label was Dave Robertson & Jon Gurd ‘Camel / Thai Chilli’ but undoubtedly the highlight so far has to be when Jon and Dave produced one of the biggest tracks of 2006 “The Rendition” which featured on The Essential Mix every night during the Ibiza weekend, courtesy of Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Seb Fontaine and Steve Lawler. The 3rd single “Another T” was then signed to Cr2, and Jon is currently hard at work in the studio writing his new EP for his label Kill a Watt
